Competitions

Algarve clubs compete in every Portuguese competition organized by the Portuguese Football Federation and Portuguese League for Professional Football. In 2009 Olhanense was promoted to Primeira Liga [1], where since 2002 no club from Algarve played. [2]

Below the Portuguese Third Division the competitions are organized in a distrital level with each District Association organizing its competitions according to geographical or other factors.

The first level competition of the Algarve DFA (5th national level) is the First Division. The second level (6th national) named Second Division is divided into two regions: Windward and Leeward.
